Inspire Leadership Coaching (ILC) was founded by David French in 2025 to help leaders at all levels and in all types of organisations reach their full potential. ILC exists to develop leaders who can inspire others and ignite growth in all aspects of their lives - personal, professional and in the community.
How we support our clients.
ILC’s approach to leadership coaching and development is to work directly with our clients to build their Leadership Code - values, beliefs, actions, leadership philosophy and communication skills - to develop as leaders, to get ‘unbusy’ and inspire those they work with. We do this through International Coaching Federation aligned frameworks and models in one-on-one coaching sessions. These coaching sessions will challenge you, clarify your vision, explore your capabilities and discover solutions for your leadership opportunities and challenges to deliver deep, lasting change.
In ILC’s team development programs we delve into transformational leadership. We look at what it means and how we can combine it’s tenets with the best of the science and art of leadership, philosophy and coaching to develop cohorts and leaders who can really ignite growth for their teams and companies.
For veterans and community organisation leaders ILC can provide bespoke, lower cost programs to help codify purpose, build strategies and define career paths. We have walked this path and know both the challenges and rewards that exist in doing so.

David’s Background.
David joined the Australian Army straight out of high school and after completing training at the Australian Defence Force Academy and Royal Military College - Duntroon was allocated to the Royal Australian Infantry Corps. David spent the majority of his career in the 5th and 5th/7th Battalions of the Royal Australian Regiment where he learned to lead and work with Australian soldiers on operations in Timor Leste, Iraq and Afghanistan. In the latter deployment he commanded 170 Australian soldiers as the Company Commander of Combat Team - Charlie in Deh Rawood District, Uruzgan Province. He was also the senior coalition commander in the district which included soldiers and sailors from the United States Army and Navy as well as the officers and soldiers of the Afghan National Army and thousands of local Afghan civilians and their tribal leaders.
From this service David developed a deep understanding of what makes a great leader: those who can inspire their teams, achieve exceptional results in good times and bad, and grow their team members while doing so. He learned that leaders don’t just command or direct, but lead from the front, lead from their values, lead for their teams and stick to a well developed leadership philosophy.
After retiring from the Army as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2016 David worked extensively as a business leader in small, large and multi-national companies with a focus on leading and building high performing teams. He was the inaugural General Manager of the multi-award winning BCT Solutions, assisted Systems Planning and Analysis establish their Australian operations, led the People Capability Group at Downer Professional Services and was the Global Defence Operations Lead for Accenture supporting 20 different business units in North America, Asia Pacific and Europe.
These experiences taught David the importance of business leaders being ethically grounded and people focussed to truly be their best and reinforced the important differences in strategic, operational and tactical leadership. They also revealed that leadership training in most companies was often either absent or basic and formulaic. He believes that leadership development needs to be delivered in a more profound way in order to develop better leaders. ILC is designed to meet this challenge.
